What is tummy tuck?
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) removes loose skin and excess fat from the abdomen and tightens separated abdominal muscles. Many people choose it after pregnancy or significant weight loss, when diet and exercise can no longer change the shape of the stomach.
At Northwest Arkansas Center for Plastic Surgery, tummy tucks are performed by Dr. Heath Stacey, a board-certified plastic surgeon with more than 15 years of experience in Northwest Arkansas, and Dr. Wilson Huett, a plastic surgeon trained at the University of Louisville.

Is a tummy tuck right for me?
You may be a good candidate if:
- Excess skin on your stomach hasn’t responded to diet or exercise
- Pregnancy separated your abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), leaving a rounded lower
abdomen - You’ve lost significant weight and have kept it stable for several months
- You’re finished having children, or don’t plan to be pregnant soon
- You don’t use nicotine, or are willing to stop before and after surgery
- You’re in good overall health

A mini abdominoplasty addresses excess skin below the belly button only. A full tummy tuck treats the whole abdomen and repairs the muscles. Your surgeon will recommend one after examining you.

A tummy tuck done for cosmetic reasons isn’t covered by insurance. Removing a hanging fold of skin for medical reasons (panniculectomy) is sometimes covered. Our team can discuss whether that may apply to you.
