What is a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover is a personalized combination of procedures that addresses changes to the breasts and abdomen after pregnancy and breastfeeding. It most often combines a tummy tuck, breast surgery (a lift, augmentation, or reduction), and liposuction, so you have one surgery and one recovery.

At Northwest Arkansas Center for Plastic Surgery, mommy makeovers are performed by Dr. Heath Stacey, a board-certified plastic surgeon with more than 15 years of experience in Northwest Arkansas.

You've given so much. This is for you.

Pregnancy and nursing change the body in ways diet and exercise often can’t undo. Breasts may lose volume or lift, you may have loose skin, and abdominal muscles can remain separated.

Many of our patients tell us they love being mothers. They simply miss feeling at home in their own bodies.

Wanting that back isn’t vanity. It’s about feeling confident, comfortable, and like yourself again.

What can a mommy makeover include?

Every mommy makeover looks different, as every patient is different. Some patients choose two plastic surgery procedures; others combine several. Your mommy makeover procedures will always be selected specifically to fit your needs and goals.

Tummy tuck

Loose abdominal skin and separated muscles (diastasis recti)

Breast lift

Breasts that sit lower or have lost their shape

Breast augmentation

Lost volume, using Natrelle or Motiva implants

Breast reduction

Breasts that have stayed larger or heavier after pregnancy

Liposuction

Stubborn fat on the abdomen, flanks, arms, or legs
Other concerns, such as changes after childbirth that patients may prefer to discuss privately, can be addressed at your consultation.

Is a mommy makeover right for me?

You may be a good candidate if:

  • You’re finished having children
  • You’ve finished breastfeeding and given your body several months to settle
  • Your weight is stable and close to your goal
  • Pregnancy changed more than one area, such as your breasts and abdomen
  • You don’t use nicotine, or are willing to stop before and after surgery
  • You’re in good overall health

If you only have concerns about one area, a [tummy tuck] or breast procedure on its own may be all you need. We’ll help you decide at your consultation.

Benefits of a Mommy Makeover

Getting a mommy makeover surgery changes more than just the way you look. We know that the decision to have this procedure is also about how you feel every day: when you get dressed, play with your children, and see yourself in photos.

Feel like yourself again

Many patients say they feel more confident and more at home in their bodies.

A balanced silhouette

Treating the breasts and abdomen together can restore proportion to your figure.

Clothes that fit beautifully

Fitted dresses, swimwear, and tops often fit more smoothly and comfortably.

Stronger core support

Repairing separated abdominal muscles may help the core feel firmer and more supported.

One recovery

Combining procedures means a single recovery period rather than several over a span of months or years

Long-lasting results

With a stable weight and no future pregnancies, results can last for years.

Your experience at NWACPS

Surgery is not an easy decision. Our role is to make sure that along every step, you feel clear, calm, and well cared for.

  • An unhurried consultation. Your surgeon examines you, listens to your goals, and explains what a tummy tuck can and can’t do for you.
  • Clear preparation. You’ll receive written instructions covering what to expect before, during, and after surgery.
  • A nursing team you can reach. Our nurses stay in close contact through your recovery and answer questions as they come up.
  • Follow-up visits. Your surgeon checks your healing in person until you’re fully recovered.

Mommy Makeover Recovery

Every recovery is personal, and your surgeon will tailor your plan to you. Here is a general picture of how healing tends to unfold, with our nurses available to you throughout.

The first few days

Plan to rest and let someone else handle the household. Gentle walks around the house help circulation.

The first week

Soreness begins to ease, and moving around becomes more comfortable each day.

The weeks that follow

Many patients feel ready to return to desk work and lighter routines. Your surgeon will help you decide when.

As you gain strength

You’ll gradually add more activity. Lifting, including your children, waits until your surgeon clears you.

Your follow-up visits

Your surgeon checks your healing and lets you know when you’re ready to return to exercise.

The months ahead

Swelling continues to settle and your results come into view.

Your Results and Scars

Your results. You’ll notice a difference right away, though swelling softens the final shape for a few months. By 3–6 months, most patients see a fuller or lifted bust, a smoother midsection, and a more defined waist.

Your scars. Scars depend on your plan. A tummy tuck scar sits low across the abdomen, below most underwear and swimwear. Breast scars are placed as discreetly as possible, often around the areola or under the breast. Liposuction leaves only tiny incisions. All fade gradually over 12–18 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most patients wait at least six months after delivery and after they’ve finished breastfeeding. This gives your body and breasts time to settle, so your results reflect where you’ll stay.

It’s best to wait. A future pregnancy can stretch the skin, separate the muscles, and change the breasts again.

Combining procedures is very common. Your surgeon considers your health, your goals, and the length of surgery, and may recommend two separate surgeries if that’s the better choice for you.

Most patients return to desk work in about two weeks and are cleared for exercise in about six weeks. Your surgeon will guide your timeline.

Plan on no heavy lifting, including small children, for about six weeks. You may want to arrange help at home for the first couple of weeks.

Yes. The tummy tuck portion stitches separated abdominal muscles back together, which exercise alone usually can’t do.

Not always. A breast lift alone can restore shape and position. Implants add volume. Many patients choose both.

Breast surgery can affect future breastfeeding, which is one reason we recommend waiting until you’re done having children. Your surgeon will discuss this with you.

Results are long-lasting. Removed skin doesn’t return, and the muscle repair holds. However, significant weight changes, aging, and future pregnancies can affect your results over time.

Cost depends on the procedures you combine. You’ll receive a personalized quote at your complimentary consultation, and we offer monthly payment plans through CareCredit, Cherry, and Prosper.

No. Consultations are complimentary. You’ll meet privately with one of our plastic surgeons, ask every question you have, and leave with a personalized plan and quote.

A mommy makeover is cosmetic, so it will depend on your insurance provider. In some cases, a breast reduction done for medical reasons may be covered. Our team can discuss whether that may apply to you.
